Percy Jackson series review

THE LIGHTNING THIEF

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

Plot:

You guys, this plot was amazing! It was so original and plot twists happened in every chapter. I was never bored. If you look closely, it resembles Harry Potter quite a bit, but in a good way.

Writing:

Now that I come to think of it, I really love Rick Riordan’s writing. It’s so complex and easy to read. Can’t wait to read his other books.

Characters:

PERCY- There’s really nothing new of special about Percy, but he’s still awesome. He’s the classic little boy hero.

ANNABETH- Now Annabeth, I really liked her. She was unique and had an attitude, which I love.

GROVER- Grover was pure awesomeness. He was humble in his own ways, and had a pretty cool backstory.

Overall & Recommendations:

4.25 stars. This was a great book. Can’t wait to get started on the rest of the series this month. I would recommend it to everybody 4th+.

THE SEA OF MONSTERS

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary:

The heroic son of Poseidon makes an action-packed comeback in the second must-read installment of Rick Riordan’s amazing young readers series. Starring Percy Jackson, a “half blood” whose mother is human and whose father is the God of the Sea, Riordan’s series combines cliffhanger adventure and Greek mythology lessons that results in true page-turners that get better with each installment. In this episode, The Sea of Monsters, Percy sets out to retrieve the Golden Fleece before his summer camp is destroyed, surpassing the first book’s drama and setting the stage for more thrills to come.

Plot:

The plot was pretty good, and had many plot twists. This series is so unique, but has distinct similarities to Harry Potter (which is a good thing). There was many unexpected plot twists, and the ending was somewhat of a surprise for me. Sadly, I had gotten spoiled for the ending, so I will never know if I would have been truly surprised. At the beginning I was bored and not into it, but that’s on me. I took a two week break from this book, and read 8 other books.

Characters:

There wasn’t much character development at all, but I did get to see some other sides to unexpected characters. We found out Percy has a half-brother, which was pretty cool. I notice that Percy is rather impassive when it comes to emotions. When he thinks a family member has died, he doesn’t shed a tear.

Overall & Recommendations:

This was a really good book. I didn’t LOVE it, but I really liked it. I can’t wait to continue on with the series. I would say 9+ with this series. It’s so much fun to read this. If you love Harry Potter, then I’m sure you’ll love Percy Jackson.

THE TITAN’S CURSE

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

MINI REVIEW
!!!!!!!!!MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!
Summary:

IT’S NOT EVERYDAY YOU FIND YOURSELF IN COMBAT WITH A HALF-LION, HALF-HUMAN.

But when you’re the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster.

Oh, and guess what? The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will survive…

Plot:

This is where the Percy Jackson series started getting REALLY good. I loved this plot SO MUCH. I don’t have much to say about it, because I honestly can’t remember specifics (I waited to long to write a review, and I’m on the 5th book, and forgot my thoughts on the previous books.)

Characters:

I really loved how they introduced new characters in this book. That might just be what the previous were missing. Thalia was a really cool character, but I didn’t favor her much. She seemed to cause some tension between Percy and Annabeth, and that was never good. It was a surprise that she joined the Hunt, but that was very clever of Riordan. I also really liked Zoe. She was such a complex character, and I loved reading about her. It broke my heart when she died.

Overall & Recommendations:

This was my favorite book so far, although I know it gets even better later on. The Percy Jackson series is amazing, and I love it to pieces. I recommend it to EVERYBODY.

THE BATTLE OF THE LABYRINTH

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

MINI REVIEW

Summary:

Percy Jackson isn’t expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse.

In this fourth installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos’s army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop the invasion, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth – a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn.

Plot:

The plot in this book was SO GOOD. Every single bit of it was amazing. I loved all of the mysteries and the overall setting was great. Going into this book, I thought they would be in the Labyrinth the entire time, but I was definitely wrong. The settings varied, and there was lots of dangerous places within the Labyrinth.

Characters:

I loved how Rick introduced Rachel Elizabeth Dare, she’s such a cool character. For some reason, I really liked Rachel. She seemed like a laid-back person, and didn’t freak out as much to the prospect of Greek Mythology.

Also, Percabeth is my MOST WANTED ship. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book (which I’ve already read).

Overall & Recommendations:

This was so amazing! I love this series even more now, if that’s even possible. I would say everyone 10+ should completely dive into this series and never look back.

THE LAST OLYMPIAN

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

@@@SPOILERS@@@

Summary:

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.

In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.

Plot:

I know I say this in every Percy Jackson review, but this plot was awesome. I was NEVER bored, EVER. It was so exciting, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Rick Riordan has made a masterpiece of a world with Greek mythology. I can’t even get a grasp on how amazing the world of Percy Jackson is. The world building is phenomenal, and I can’t get enough.

Now, onto the ending. However much I love the fortunate ending, it was just so unlikely. Everything happened to Percy’s avail. Typhon used to be the god’s worst enemy, and then when Poseidon shows up to help, they defeat Typhon in a blink of an eye. Im not saying the huge war between Titans and gods was easy, but it was definitely in favor of the good side. I almost wish Percy’s side would’ve lost more, it just seemed so fortunate.

Characters:

•3 words. NICO FOR LIFE. Nico is so courageous, and I can’t even explain. I just love Nico.

•I can’t believe Beckendorf and Selina died! That was so sad!

•Percabeth is GOALS. My main ship of all time!!!

•Turns out I was wrong about Grover dying. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t want him to die, I had just predicted it.

•I had a sneaking suspicion that Selina was the spy, but when she confessed with her dying breath, I instantly forgave her.

Overall & Recommendations:

I cannot wait to start The Heroes of Olympus! This is the next best thing to Harry Potter. I recommend this series to everyone 10+.

Well, that’s all of my reviews for that series! Hope you enjoyed! Please leave a comment about your thoughts on Percy Jackson (I’m sure there’s many). Thanks for reading🤗
