SPOILERS

Summary from goodreads:

Sparks are igniting.

Flames are spreading.

And the Capitol wants revenge.

Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol – a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she’s afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she’s not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol’s cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can’t prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

Plot:

GAH THIS WAS FREAKIN AMAZING! I’m actually really surprised I didn’t finish it in 1 sitting. Actually, I read and watched the whole series in 4 days. #proud. When starting this book, I had NO IDEA what it was gonna be about, but I had some crazy idea that there was somehow going to be another Hunger Games. Guess I was right! But still, I’m freakin mad at the Capital for being so horrendous. Those poor victors! I also really liked the setting. It was really cool to learn how the arena worked. The clock theme was soooo evil but soooo cool. Okay but seriously, let’s talk about that ending. I don’t know how I didn’t see that coming. All was well, except for the fact that Peeta had gotten CAPTURED! That cliffhanger killed me.

Characters:

I was introduced to so much amazing characters in this book. FINNICK IS BAE. Anyways, even though Johanna Mason was kind of a butthead, I still loved her sassy attitude. Okay, back to Finnick. He’s sooooo amazing! His love for Anna is so inspiring. Also, PEETA. I LOVE PEETA! Even though Gail is bae, Peeta is life. Katniss is as kick-butt as ever, and her independent personality is so refreshing, and I love her character so much.

Overall & Recommendations:

THIS SERIES IS AMAZING! I could go on and on about how much I love this series. GAH! The plot is genius, the characters are awesome, and everything About it is awe-inspiring. There’s not much to say, because I’m still in shock from Mockingjay. EVERYBODY SHOULD READ THIS.

Quotes I Love:

“I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now and live in it forever.”

“You know, you could live a thousand lifetimes and not deserve him.”

“My nightmares are usually about losing you. I’m okay once I realize you’re here.”

“I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.”

“The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames. I am the mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol’s plans. The symbol of the rebellion.”

“At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. The hard thing is finding the courage to do it.”

“We had to save you because you’re the mockingjay, Katniss,” says Plutarch. “While you live, the revolution lives.”

“I really can’t think about kissing when I’ve got a rebellion to incite. ”

“So I only say, “So what should we do with our last few days?”

“I just want to spend every possible minute of the rest of my life with you,” Peeta replies.”
